I love watching Tom Watson play golf, and when he plays like he did Thursday morning at the British Open, it’s a reminder of just how great Watson once was. The five-time British Open Champion fired a bogey free round of 65 with 5 birdies. That should come as no surprise at Turnberry, where Watson defeated Nicklaus in 1977 in the famous “Dual in the Sun”. He also won the Senior British Open at Turnberry in 2003.
He’s 59 years old, and very few, if any, think that he can get it done against the world’s top ranked players. But there is something about the British Open that gives Tom Watson wings. Now lets see if he can dust them off and fly again.
Good luck Tom!
