Are You Ready for Me D.C.?
It’s officially no longer to be referred to at the Lowe’s Island Club. Mr. Trump himself was in town this past week to claim the place his own, and to offer some nice insight on what the club will look like when his team is done remodeling. Trump says that he was turned on to the property along the Potomac in Loudoun County, Virginia when his son Eric showed him an image of the place on Google. He knew right then and there that it was a special piece of property, and when Mr. Trump wants something.. well he just goes out and buys it.
“When I saw [the picture] it became a Google alert because we immediately went into action,” Trump said. “I look at many, many golf courses. This one was a no-brainer. This has advantages that very, very few clubs have.”
Trump, who already owns extravagant clubs in Florida, Los Angeles, New Jersey, New York and Puerto Rico said he believes the club will easily distinguish itself as this region’s finest in no time. ”I believe in taking something and making it great,” he said. “There’s nothing in Washington I could ever find that would top this. I know all of the courses. There’s no piece of land like this, none on the river. There’s nothing like this.”
Tom Fazio will remodel both golf courses (River and Championship), Trump also plans to paint the clubhouse white and add additions including a ballroom. There was also a whisper of building a signature Trump waterfall on the 18th hole. The new owner and namesake said that most of the work will be done in the next year.
According to a few sources, membership is on the rise following the announcement of Trump taking control.
